Dance Wildly | Devotional

Parenting has allowed me to see God so differently. Naomi loves to dance – like silly dance, but she only does it when no one is looking. When I giggle or comment she stops and blushes. Despite my encouragement she stops and moves on to something else. I’ve made it a point to silly dance in front of her recently – not because I am a great dancer, but because I’m trying to remove her self-imposed fears. I know she wants to let loose and be goofy, so I want to help her overcome that fear. What I’ve noticed is that as she sees me silly dance in front of others, suppressing feelings of embarrassment, and because she is seeing me do it– she is gaining confidence. She is beginning to do her silly dance in front of others and really tap into her inner-goofiness, which I adore.

Isaiah 45:2

I will go before you and will level the mountains; I will break down gates of bronze and cut through bars of iron.

Don’t we see most things in front of us as mountains or as impenetrable walls? Be it the mountain of embarrassment or the wall of fear. He goes before us. He removes those things so that we can move forward, so that we can live wildly, live simply, and with abandon. So we can become who He created us to be – free of self-imposed emotions that restrain us.

Matthew 17:20

Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”

So, whether you’re being called to dance wildly and freely in your kitchen, or being called to do something that seems impossible – He goes before you. He’s paving the way. Ask. Receive. Give thanks. Walk in His light and give Him the glory.

Live Simply. Live Wildly. Love Always.
